Do you smoke weed? Do you smoke marijuana regularly? Are you among the numerous who are out petitioning for the legalization of said herb?

Some things to contemplate:
Pot has some pretty severe effects concerning the heart. Withing moments of taking that first hit, the heart rate begins to go up by as much as 20 to 50 beats per minute. When considering that a typical resting heartbeat is 60-70 beats per minute, this is a pretty drastic leap. Along with increased heart rate, blood pressure drops. With these two factors, possibility of a heart attack are four times greater.
Many claim that marijuana hasn't got harmful effects on the lungs because most marijuana smokers consume a lot less weed than those who smoke tobacco. This is only partially true. Weed contains considerably more carcinogens than tobacco, and because marijuana smokers inhale more deeply and hold the smoke in their lungs for a longer period of time, their lungs are exposed to these carcinogens for additional time.
Another effect of pot on your health to consider would be that THC weakens the body's immune system and impairs its ability to ward off sickness and disease. This can cause a wide variety of concerns.
Mental health is not really a thing which is considered often as being influenced by weed, but it is something serious to take into account. Not only does prolonged cannabis use have permanent negative effects on brain function, including perception, problem solving, and motor function, chronic pot use has been associated with increased vulnerability in developing anxiety, depression, and schizophrenia.
If the actual physical consequences of smoking pot don't bother you, then dig deep into your memory. Remember that one kid's father who gave you your first joint? Yeah, he's still sitting on that couch in search of his lighter and the box of Twinkies he finished eating a few hours ago. This could be you.
But seriously, while the long-term unwanted effects of smoking weed may not be as worse and the many other drugs you could be out doing, just consider that, like anything else, there are negative effects on your overall health, and anything that may perhaps kill you quicker may be something worth stopping.

i have some friends of mine that smoke weed and think it would be really funny to get me high. i am not doing things like that, that would harm myself and i know they wont force me to smoke but it always comes up in convos.
any advice?
I think you should give it a go at least once in your life. If you don't like it, then don't do it anymore... a true friend will understand if it isn't your thing. Pot isn't harmful. There has never been a recorded overdose of marijuana. Just be in a comfortable enviroment around friends that you can trust when you try it the first time. And by all means, don't drive until you straighten up.
