Can I give my dog Allergy Tablets (Benadryl) for constant itching and chewing?

My dog is chewing around his tail top and bottom at the base of the tail. Wanted to help him get some relief till he see the Vet at the end of the week.

You can but it only works if allergies are the problem. It wont help if he has fleas or other skin problems. Benadryl is administered at a dosage of 1 milligram per 1 pound of the dogs weight and you can give to him 2-3 times a day. You should call the vet 1st and make sure its all right to give him and how much he should be taking just to be safe.
